The Tucson Film Club is nearing its one month anniversary. It has been a lot of fun this month. It is like it has been a month of highlights and I will start with that.

We were able to help kids-at-risk in the Amphi School District with the Jon Proudstar screenplay called 'Choices.' The kids were a joy to watch because for so long there lives have been impulses and punishment. On March 17 and 18, they got to see the other side. If they had an imulse then they gave it to their character and there was no punishment.

We didn't get everything on one take, no good movie ever does, so we learned humility along the way as well.

From production we turned to promotion. Jen X was shown to any audience that was willing. There was a focus group screening on March 31 where an intelligent crowd discussed the movie for an hour. Their feedback was invaluable as part of Jen X was changed for the better.

The next two showings recieved the benefit of the focus group's work in conjunction with the amazing editor Micah J. Shaw.

On April 4 it was an intimate party for the cast and crew of Jen X. Metro Grill was kind enough to host it and it was a wonderful celebration of a great movie short production.

Denise Lane has been hosting Open Mic Night at Bookman's since I started going over a year ago. I was sad to hear that April 5 was the last one. I was thrilled that I could show Jen X on such a bittersweet night. It was an honor to show it to a room of such talented people.

I hope Denise finds time to get back into the studio with The Spurloafers and make another CD. Their first CD is amazing and I was so lucky that three of the songs fit the theme of Jen X very well.

We have a big day looming this week as film critic Vernon Neal headlines another screening on April 12. We are also working on Juan C. Heinrich's II that evening.

Darren Montgomery is developing a screenplay that the TFC might help him out with once II is "in the can."
There is plenty of work to do to build the Tucson film industry. What is nice is that since it is our city, we have an opportunity to help and by help I mean we get to make and watch movies.

Sounds like Heaven on Earth and with this weather it is already hard to tell the difference.
